Gan Flea Market

Went to my fave flea market last weekend! Here's what I didn't buy (but should have!)

Fire king mugs 10 for $20

Huge box of Little Golden Books. I wonder what I could have offered for the whole thing?

The cutest cocktail shaker (with matching glasses!!!) ever!

Ceramic cookware in the gravel floored 50% off room. It would have been $10 for the set.
I should have bought this!!!!

Next post, what I actually DID buy :)

How Does Your Garden Grow

I am attempting gardens again this year - something I never have had much luck with. Mainly I get busy and let them go, but this year will be different ...right?

3 gardens have been put in so far, a lavender one along our fence line, a flower one at the front of our house and  an herb one out back.

I can't find my pics of the first 2 so here is the herb garden before and after.

BEFORE

a naked little helper!

AFTER

So far it's doing well - the plants are much bigger then were in these pics - and the cats have only dug up and killed one dill plant :)

Happy Monday!

How were your weekends? The crazy warm weather here is making it impossible to stay inside. There is alot of this going on:

I have a bunch of things I need to share including some yard sale finds and the gardens I put in this year :)

Artist

Why paint on paper when you have skin?? I was pretty desperate to keep her awake so she wouldn't nap at 6pm and then be up all night. Getting paint out worked, but I am  not always sure the mess is worth it!
* Note: after the bath I found her drawing "tattoos" on her arms with black sharpie - they are never clean for long!

Hope you are having a great week! I hope to finally get caught up on work, but I probably will time waste on pinterest checking out possible hair options for tomorrow's salon visit!

From My Bookshelf > Fifty Shades of Grey

Title: Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy
Author: E.L James

Yep I jumped on this bandwagon...I had no idea what to expect, but I liked Twilight , and after hearing a friend say it was good, I thought I would try it - and I  actually couldn't put it down - which seems to be my MO when it comes to books I am against.

So I imagine most of you know what it's about, and if not..well Twilight S&M fan fiction turned best selling trilogy.  It's explicit... - ban worthy? definitely not. I am not really sure what all the uproar is about. I didn't find it anti-feminist. for me it was a story of 2 people, from different walks off life, trying to find some middle ground. Instead of feeling offended by Grey's character and his umm ... relationship habits  I wanted to learn more about why he was the way he was. Having never read anything in this genre, I have nothing to compare it to  - but I am sure there is way more disturbing books out there.

So did you read ? I am not sold on the idea of this as a movie - unless it's a showtime or HBO series a la true blood... thoughts? It must be kinda weird for K-Stew and R-Patz knowing these were written with them in mind lol...

Party Inspiration > Hunger Games

Kate's birthday always kind of sneaks up on me. I think that happens with early in the month birthdays. Last year's Harry Potter party was well received and now I think we have set a precedent and she may be like her mom in her love of theme parties :)

This year we are going with Hunger Games - which is kinda turning out to be a challenge, I can't really let them fight to the death... can I ??  While I rack my brain my first stop as per the norm is pinterest

I'd love to hear any ideas you might have

Back in the saddle

Happy Friday Ya'll! I took  little break from blogging for a bit - I think with the computer crash, Clifford being gone and being on a reading binge I just wasn't to in - and I didn't want to force it. But I think it's time to get  back on the wagon :)

Any big plans for this mother's day weekend? I am hoping to get a little break from being a mom lol - isn't that what mother's day is about??  I have been enjoying some of the cards on someecards - they pretty much all crack me up!

Enjoy your weekend! And don't forget to enter the giveaway over at Thrifty Gypsies!

From My Book Shelf> The Affinity Bridge

Author: George Mann

This has been sitting in my goodreads "to read" list since November of last year, but I was too busy reading YA dystopian, Vampire, changling, psychic, romance to bother with this until now.

I have mixed feelings about this book. The dialogue was pretty snappy and some of the concepts were great and really creative, but there was just so much going on! It was steampunk, and zombies, and mystery, and magic and psychics and it all seemed like just too much. At one point i was like "really? you want to include that genre too? okay then!" Romance was minimal, which is okay, but I like my steam punk mysteries like I like my TV crime procedurals, rife with sexual tension. I found what tension there was between the lead characters to feel pretty forced and one sided...and I'm not sure if I like the way Mr. Mann writes from a woman's perspective.

While I said most of the concepts were pretty creative, there were a few times where I thought to myself, "I've seen this used before" and I really haven't read that much steam punk.

All in all I think I'll be waiting quite a while before I even attempt to tackle the next two books in this series. Now back to witches, vampires, pixies, demons, and weres! Loving The Hollows series <3 (and please CW make it a TV Series!!!)

A Comic Getaway

Our 1 100% (as in we bought tickets so we have to go) summer plan is a 4 day trip to Toronto for Fan Expo (it's like Comic Con for Canada) I hope we will be adding more summer plans to the queue, but this is a good place to start! There are a bunch of us going and I'm pretty excited at the chance to meet Professor X!

I have been looking in to fun t-shirts to get, here are some of the ones I have been looking at:
